After 12 years as a Fitness Professional, my vision has changed.
When I started doing personal training in 2008, my vision was simple: pay my bills.
As I’ve been doing this, my vision has evolved. Firstly, it’s no longer my vision. I’m now a part of an amazing team at TriForce, so we consider this OUR vision now. Secondly, it’s no longer about me. It’s about the impact that we can have on our community.
.
But at first, coming up with a real vision statement was hard. Wanting to help people is easy, but really narrowing things down and coming up with exactly what that should look like was hard.
.
We wanted to help people using exercise, nutrition, and physical therapy. But what did we want to help them do?
Did we want them to become incredible elite athletes? Maybe, but that wasn’t primarily our passion.
Did we want to be the coolest CrossFit gym in the area so we would attract CrossFitters from other gyms? Definitely not our thing.
.
So after being open for almost a year, we were able to narrow down exactly what our burning desire is at TriForce:
“To help 1000 people in St. John’s County become more healthy, fit, and confident.”
After being at it for a year, it was easy to see that these are the things we are really passionate about, and they are also the things we are really good at.
.
At TriForce, we help people become healthier. Because it happens so frequently, it is almost easy to forget how amazing when people return from their doctor with amazing news.
“My doctor said my blood work is great now. I told her it’s because I do CrossFit!”
That is something to really be celebrated, and that is helping people become healthier.
.
We also help people become more fit. Makes sense, since we are a gym, right? But our focus on fitness is a little bit different than some gyms.
We want your fitness not just to be something that you use at the gym. We help people develop fitness that leads to an improved quality of life.
TriForce helps moms wrestle their kids when dad isn’t home, or dads chase after their kids while mom isn’t home.
TriForce helps grandparents move their furniture by themselves before their grandkids come over.
TriForce helps active military personnel not only pass, but CRUSH their functional fitness tests.
That’s being more fit. Of course lifting heavy weights, or doing a workout fast is fun, but we want the hour you spend in the gym to make you better at the other 23 hours of your life.
.
Which leads to the final step in our vision, which is helping people become more confident.
When Megan and I started our first bootcamp in the park when we lived in Birmingham, AL, we named it “Empowered Performance.” Maybe a little cheesy, but hey, the name makes sense.
Our goal is still to “empower” our members. That means giving them confidence, and reminding them daily that they are amazing.
We have seen highschoolers gain the confidence to face their bullies.
We have seen 40 something year olds moms gain the confidence to wear a bikini at the beach again.
We have seen middle managers gain the confidence to stand up for themselves and get that promotion they deserve.
.
It really is incredible, but our vision is playing out to be a reality.
In another post, I’ll tell you why we have recently changed our vision to:
“To help 10,000 people in St. John’s County become more healthy, fit, and confident.”
