You heard wrong. CrossFit can literally be for anyone.
Everyone can do CrossFit regardless of age, injuries and current fitness levels. Our program is modified for each person to help him or her safely become healthier and fitter. People who are just starting out and people who have trained for years can perform modified versions of the same general workout and they do in our classes!
CrossFit can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance.
Everyday the workout will be different. You will find that over a month of workouts you have moved in every plane and every joint – doing versions of movements like push ups, pull-ups, deadlifts, Olympic lifts, squats, rowing, running and dumbbell work to name a few. This constantly varied, functional movement performed at high intensity is the CrossFit methodology.
This approach to working out allows for people to jump into CrossFit wherever their fitness level is. Now, it is really important that you understand how to perform the movements safely, so that’s why we have any of our new members go through an onboarding process that includes personal training sessions. But even when people have not been working out for years (or haven’t EVER worked out), we still utilize the CrossFit approach to help them achieve the fitness that they came in to achieve.
So when you think of CrossFit, and think about the folks that are already ripped, strong, have great cardio, or whatever your personal definition of “fit” is, know that they had to start somewhere too. Because of the Level Method and having customized workouts everyday for all of our athletes, you will see folks who struggle to stand up off of a box in the same class as someone who is squatting 500 pounds.
Remember, CrossFit is not just for really fit people. CrossFit is for people who are willing to work hard and get better, no matter what their current fitness level is.
See you in the box!
