At TriForce, we are always looking for the best ways to improve what we do and how our members can have an even better experience. As a CrossFit gym, we utilize the process of testing and re-testing so that our athletes can evolve and be constantly evaluating weaknesses. Level Method programming is the best way that we help our athletes do this week over week.
So what is the Level Method, and how does it work?
The Level Method is a level-based system that assesses 15 different categories to determine your overall fitness. These are:
- Front Squat
- Upper Body Pull
- Lactic Tolerance
- Deadlift
- Upper Body Push
- Upper/Lower Endurance
- Weightlifting (Olympic Lifting)
- Rings
- Squat Endurance
- Neuro & Core Endurance
- Kettlebell
- Flexibility
- Running
- Rowing
- Aerobic Power Intervals
After completing all of the assessments, athletes are given a level that corresponds to a color. Consider it similar to a fitness belt system similar to ones used in martial arts. This level of color is then used as a guide for how to progress from beginner to advanced in each of the categories and workouts during the week. This allows everyone, regardless of fitness level, to jump into workouts with us and push themselves to get better while being safe and learning good form and proper intensity.
One amazing aspect of the Level Method is the ability to allow athletes to tease out strengths and weaknesses across every aspect of their fitness, which leads to better overall performance. For example, most athletes come in with a few assessments that they do amazing in, but they also have a few glaring weaknesses. To improve our athletes’ health and wellness, we help them get better at their weaknesses.
This is why the Level Method has been such a great addition for us- this system makes it easier for members to choose the proper workout. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced CrossFitter, the Level Method can help you find the right version of the prescribed workout and challenges to take your training to the next level. Every day, there are 7 different versions of the same workout, depending on your level.
Each category progresses from left to right, from beginner to advanced, and corresponds to colored levels. It’s a more objective way to assess your fitness levels and identify your strengths and weaknesses. Consider it a fitness belt system akin to a martial arts belt system. As you get better at each of the categories, you will “Level Up.” It is an amazing day when you finally are able to accomplish that workout needed to Level Up, it is quite the celebration. There is no better system to allow you to see the tangible results of your hard work in the gym.
The other amazing thing about using the Level Method is that it allows members with very different skill, strength, and fitness levels to work out together and have the amazing community that CrossFit allows while making sure everyone is getting the workout they need. There is no longer a need to separate beginner’s classes from advanced, which allows everyone to feed off each other’s efforts and energy.
